This inventory system was designed during our course of

"Connected Experience", currently situated at concept level.

THE CONTEXT

India wastes up to 67 million

tonne of food every year,

according to a government

study. As per Hindustan Times,

the value of the food lost is

Rs 92,000 crore

IDENTIFYING THE CONCERNS

Lack of Real-Time Tracking

Of all products through all stages of the suplly chain

leading to more demand than request

Inaccurate Demand Forecasting

As it leads to excess stock on hand, increasing possibility

of inventory spoilage and loss in business

Inefficient manual processes

Is challenging for retail workforce to access to accurate

information, time consuming & unsecured

Solving for an In-depth solution

After initiating and testing multiple iterations of each solution, we

have been able to filter out these designs to help prevent the specific

problems…

Wastage of Perishable items

Handling perishable items, such as fruits and vegetables, poses

a daily challenge.

How can we detect rotten Vegetables...can we really?

Most fruits produce a gaseous compound called ethylene that

starts the ripening process. Its level in under-ripe fruit is very low,

but as the fruits develop, they produce larger amounts of the

chemical that speeds up the ripening process. Our solution entails

it below!

* Ethyne Gas Sensors in baskets (Fruits & Vegetables) *

Material used for Lid

Plastic | Diameter is 5 cm

Material used for Body

Aluminium | Height is 20 cm

Who will use it?

This product is supposed to be used by Employees itself

who cater to the grocery section at every supermarket

store.

How will it be used?

The product is a simple blend of metal mesh and Ethylene

sensor, which can be easily interlocked for every use.

ROTTEN BASKET DETECTED

Employee is Indicated..What Next?

  • Humidity/Gas sensor placed inside the product

  • Locks attached from holes present in the basket

  • Mesh Layer to detect spoilage till the upper end
